Employment Services is the initial stop for adult and dislocated workers to access the Workfirst Investment Act (WIA) program through referrals to service providers for job seeker services. The following are our core self-service informational offerings:

Individuals who are unemployed due to their job or company they worked for moved out of the country are eligible for the following reemployment services:

  • Resources for resume/cover letter writing, and interviewing skills

  • One-Stop partner information
  • Reemployment Services for Unemployment Claimants
  • Information for supportive services and referrals to Secondary Core Service providers

To Search For Jobs on the Michigan Talent Bank

  1. Go to www.michworks.org to access the Michigan Talent Bank.
  2. Click on Job Seeker at the top of the page or fill in the information in the search box on the main page.
  3. Do an advanced search by clicking on Advanced Search. Click on Select Job Location. Choose a city and how far you are willing to work from that city. Jobs within that driving area will be brought up.
  4. Enter a Job Title or key word. Click Search.
  5. Scroll down the page and click on a Job Title to view the complete results, including directions on how to apply.
  6. Review the job information to make sure you qualify before applying.
  7. Quit to Exit (in upper right hand corner

To Post Your Resume on the Michigan Talent Bank

  1. Go to www.michworks.org to access the Michigan Talent Bank.
  2. Go to “Looking for a Job” on the main page. Click on Create a Resume to create your resume.
  3. Fill in the requested information. All fields marked with a red dot and at least one method of contact are required.
  4. Create your User ID and PIN. Click on Submit. Be sure to keep a record of this information. Read the Privacy Statement and click on Agree.
  5. Click on Enter Chronological or Functional Resume. Fill in your resume information into the Resume Builder & Save it.
  6. Choose the area where you are willing to work by city or zip code.
  7. Choose how far you are willing to travel for work.
  8. Select at least one Job Title. (You may enter up to three)
  9. Click on Submit at the bottom of the page.
  10. Quit to exit after spell check.

To Update Your Resume on the Michigan Talent Bank

  1. Go to www.michworks.org to access the Michigan Talent Bank. Click on Job Seeker on the main page.
  2. Click on Login to update, view, activate or inactivate your resume. Enter your User ID and Pin. Click on Submit.
  3. Click on Update, View, Activate or inactivate your resume. Go to the part of the resume where you need to change the information.
  4. Click on Update at the bottom of the page when done. If you do not need to change information, click on “Quick Update”.
  5. Click on Search for Jobs (upper right hand corner) to get jobs that match your resume.
  6. Quit to Exit (in upper right hand corner).
